BEAVERTON — At 10:21 on an overcast morning, Galen Rupp begins the hardest workout of the week. They planned to get started around 10, but “we always get started late,” Alberto Salazar says. This is perhaps the last thing that’s not calibrated like clockwork. It is 68.7 degrees with 53 percent humidity. The six-mile tempo run is run at a pace well under five minutes per mile — the goal is 4:52.
